Neurapulse is a powerful tool that helps companies understand why certain high-risk behaviors occur while driving. When vehicle sensors detect risky actions like speeding or harsh braking, a Neurapulse assessment can be deployed to quickly check the driver’s cognitive fitness for duty. This helps managers understand what might be causing  the behavior and take steps to support the driver and prevent it from happening again.

Problem Statement

Vehicle telematics systems are great at spotting high-risk behaviors such as speeding, harsh braking, lane deviation, and following too closely. However, these systems don’t tell you why the behavior happened. It could be due to cognitive impairment, fatigue, or other issues affecting the driver’s ability to make safe decisions. Without a way to assess the driver’s cognitive state, companies might miss the chance to address the root cause of these behaviors, leading to potential accidents or further risky driving.

Solution Overview

Neurapulse provides a quick and effective way to respond to flagged behaviors by offering a point-in-time  cognitive fitness for duty evaluation. After a risky driving event is detected, through the ELD, the driver can be notified to take a short, two-minute cognitive test. This test checks key cognitive functions and provides a simple result: high-risk or low-risk. By understanding the driver’s cognitive state, companies can better address the issues that led to the risky behavior, whether it’s due to impairment, fatigue, or another cognitive factor.

Implementation

When a vehicle telematics system flags risky behavior, Neurapulse can be integrated into the telematics’ response process. The test is delivered through a remote cognitive assessment platform, making it easy for drivers to take it on any smart device. The cognitive screening tool evaluates critical cognitive functions, and if after three attempts, a high-risk result is detected, it triggers an automatic follow-up, such as a more detailed impairment analysis, a meeting with a supervisor, or other actions. This allows companies to quickly understand and address the driver’s cognitive state, ensuring that they are fit to continue driving.

Expected Results/Outcome

By using Neurapulse in response to flagged behaviors, companies ensure a safer driving environment. Regular cognitive testing following risky events helps identify underlying issues that may not be apparent from the telematics data alone. This proactive approach not only improves real-time safety but also helps companies go beyond compliance, ensuring that drivers are fully supported in their roles. With Neurapulse, businesses can provide quality services while reducing the likelihood of workplace impairment and enhancing overall road safety.
